Malia
Malia was diagnosed by Dr. Tano as having a torn cruciate ligament in her knee. The only real remedy is surgical repair which was out of reach for her owner. HH Helps stepped in, and Malia got her surgery. She is expected to make a full recovery, and we are delighted!
Peanut
Peanut had urethral surgery and his owners paid $8,500 for the surgery, showing how dear Peanut is to them. Shortly thereafter, Peanut's body developed a urethral obstruction and needed surgery again. Dr. Peck needed help for the owners and reached out to HH Helps. We were delighted to step in and help Peanut and his deserving parents get the second surgery. Peanut should now feel much...
Nova
Nova (fka Chocolate, HH class of 2022) was dizzy and had a head tilt. She went to Dr. Knight for an MRI and then to Dr. Schwassman for a deep ear cleaning. The culprit was not a tumor but a lot of nasty stuff in Nova's inner ear. The cost of the MRI and ear cleaning was more than dad could handle alone, so HH Helps paid the rest. We expect Nova to be feeling much better now that her middle...
London
London has terrible allergies that his owner couldn't afford to treat, so HH Helps stepped in to help London. He is doing better but needs ongoing care by Dr. Schwassman. As you can see in the photo, London is a good boy and let's Leo the cat eat and play with him! His dad says Leo helps keep London's mind off of his allergies. 🙂
Xena
Welcome to the HH Helps family, Xena! Dr. Schwassman contacted us for help when Xena presented with a large growth blocking the entrance to her ear. Her owner had rescued her from a previous owner who was not taking care of her. She came not only with the growth but also awful teeth. Her owner already took care of a dental cleaning and 11 extractions, so we agreed to help with the cost of her...
Chance S.
Chance is a lovely boy who, unfortunately, has some very unlovely allergies. His mom is a teacher and ran out of his allergy vaccine injections over the summer and couldn't afford to refill them. His allergies are flaring, and Dr. Schwassman felt he needed help NOW, so she asked Houndhaven Helps to step in. She said the owner is a great owner, and Chance is a great dog, so we are happy to help...
Red
Meet Red. He was brought to Dr. Peck's office after having been shot while he was minding his own business in his own yard! The bullet fractured his leg, and Red was in need of immediate surgery. When the owners had trouble coming up with the cash to get Red the help he needed, Dr. Peck called on us. We were happy to help this dear boy get the surgery he needed so that he could go back to...
Zeke
We are sorry to report that one of our own (Zeke, HH class of 2018) is our newest Houndhaven Helps recipient. Zeke has an aggressive form of lymphoma whose prognosis is 1-2 months without chemotherapy, 4-6 months with chemo. Dr. Sones and Zeke's owners have chosen a conservative chemo for Zeke's sake and to be cost conscious. Although we cannot cure Zeke, or even give him a lot of time with his...
Luka
Luka, a one year old golden retriever presented to Dr. Knight after having seizures for a month. The owner had taken him to multiple vets prior to coming to Blue Pearl, and Dr. Knight initially focused on managing his seizures. Two weeks later he was seen again for continued seizures along with sudden aggression. That was a total 180 degree turn in his personality, so Dr. Knight ordered a MRI...
Bruno
Bruno went to visit Dr. Tano, and he was diagnosed with not one, but TWO torn cruciate ligaments! That will require two separate surgeries and a correspondingly huge vet bill. Dr. Tano wanted to help Bruno be able to walk comfortably again, so she offered our help to the owners. They were very grateful for the assistance HH Helps could provide thanks to our wonderful donors. Bruno has had his...
Jaxon
Jaxon is a happy golden retriever (aren't they all) who just turned 7 years old. See birthday photo with his family, including golden sister "Daisy". Unfortunately, this handsome boy was recently diagnosed with cancer. The good news is that he has an excellent oncologist, Dr. Evan Sones of Animal Cancer Care Clinic. The bad news is that his treatment is going to be very expensive for a...
Diesel
Diesel came all the way from Palm Bay to see Dr. Schwassman, and we are so glad he did because he has some nasty looking skin and ears. Diesel is now getting the relief he needs thanks to our donors and Veterinary Dermatology Center. Diesel will be an ongoing case, but he is already more comfortable than he was!
